Race Season is getting closer and the first race event for one of my cars will be
Friday March 29th (Good Friday)
@
Mildenhall Stadium Suffolk
For those of you that are not sure what car this is - it's a BMW E36 316i Compact.
There is still a bit of work yet to be carried out on this car - the most important of which is the adaptation from injection system to carburettor which requires the fabrication of a new inlet manifold - the driver Justin Margetson assures me this is all in hand & the car will be ready for the Good Friday Race.
A Better Picture.
this is a better picture of the car and the driver Justin Margetson standing next to it.
this will be the first time Justin has raced a rear wheel drive car on a track and he is looking forward to it, as most people (petrolheads anyway) will know - all BMW's are rear wheel drive - watch Top Gear for more information about over steer and under steer - the difference between front and rear wheel drive when racing.
Justin is a regular Banger Racing Driver and has a lot of experience on the track - mostly in Mondeo's so this will be a new and exciting development for him - for those of us who are older we will all remember the fun and excitement you can have on and off the road with a rear wheel drive car, reverse turns, wheel spins, burn outs, handbrake turns and then the off road excitement.
the race after this one should be the Unlimited Bangers Team Race - which should be held on
Saturday 27th April.
unlimited bangers is as described, there is no limit to the size of car or engine you can race, the bigger the better if you want to be on the track in the final stage of the race - for this race I have obtained this
at the moment we only have alloy wheels for this car and really need a set of steel wheels if anyone can help us out - we will buy them or do a deal on a set of alloys.
as you can see - we have a little something for the next unlimited banger race but again - alloys that will need replacing with steel wheels, the alloys on the back are limited edition spoke alloys and cost over £1000 new, they have excellent tyres and there are 5 of them, the alloys on the front are a standard version of Jag wheels and only 3 have tyres.
